Leveraging in vivo animal models of tendon loading to inform tissue engineering approaches
Samantha Muscat,

Abstract:Tendon injuries disrupt successful transmission of force between muscle and bone, resulting in reduced mobility, increased pain, and significantly reduced quality of life for affected patients. There are currently no targeted treatments to improve tendon healing beyond conservative methods such as rest and physical therapy. Tissue engineering approaches hold great promise for designing instructive biomaterials that could improve tendon healing or for generating replacement graft tissue. More recently, engineer… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
