Lewis-Base Adducts of Lead(II) Compounds. XX. Synthesis and Structure of the 1:1 Adduct of Pyridine With Lead(II) Thiocyanate

Abstract: The synthesis and room-temperature single-crystal X-ray structure determination are recorded for a 1:1 adduct of lead(II) thiocyanate with pyridine (' py '). [( py ) Pb (SCN)2](∞|∞) is triclinic, Pī , a 10.544(1), b 7.3729(7), c 6.705(2) Ǻ, α 103.91(2), β 95.99(2), γ 100.51(1)°, Z = 2 f.u .; R was 0.041 for 3226 'observed' (I > 3σ(I)) reflections. The structure is a two-dimensional polymer in the be plane with eight-coordinate ( py -N)PbN3S4 linked by the familiar four- membered Pb2S2 and eight-membere… Show more

“…4,4 -Dimethoxy-2,2 -bipyridine (0.108 g, 0.5 mmol) was placed in one of the arms of a branched tube (diagram 1) [9], zinc(II) acetate trihydrate (0.14 g, 0.5 mmol) and potassium thiocyanate (0.097 g, 1 mmol) was placed in the other arm. Methanol and water in a ratio of 1:1 were carefully added to fill both arms.…”

“…Nano-flowers of compound 1 were obtained by ultrasonic irradiation in a methanol solution, and single crystalline material was obtained using a heat gradient applied to a solution of the reagents (the branched tube method [24] Figure 1a shows the XRD pattern of compound 1 simulated from single-crystal X-ray data. The experimental XRD pattern of compound 1, prepared by using the sonochemical process, is shown in Figure 1b.…”

“…The reaction between the ligands 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline, thenoyltrifluoroacetonate and cadmium(II) acetate by diffusion along a thermal gradient in a methanolic solution (the branched tube method [14]) produced the title compound, [Cd(dmp)(ttfa) 2 ] n (1). The IR spectra display characteristic absorption bands for the dmp ligand and ttfa anions.…”

“…This compound was prepared by the branch tube [14] method: 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (0.20 g, 1 mmol) was placed in one arm of a branched tube and cadmium(II) acetate (0.27 g, 1 mmol) and thenoyltrifluoroacetonate (0.44 g, 2 mmol) in the other. Methanol was then carefully added to fill both arms, the tube was sealed and the ligandcontaining arm was immersed in a bath at 60°C, while the other was left at ambient temperature.…”
