LiDAR-derived digital holograms for automotive head-up displays

Abstract: A holographic automotive head-up display was developed to project 2D and 3D ultra-high definition (UHD) images using LiDAR data in the driver’s field of view. The LiDAR data was collected with a 3D terrestrial laser scanner and was converted to computer-generated holograms (CGHs). The reconstructions were obtained with a HeNe laser and a UHD spatial light modulator with a panel resolution of 3840×2160 px for replay field projections. By decreasing the focal distance of the CGHs, the zero-order spot was diffuse… Show more

“…Customizable 2D windshield displays have been developed to enhance the information intake of the driver. [ 112 ] However, the impact of AR on the driver while operating a vehicle on public roads is not fully understood. [ 230 ] Full AR in 3D with depth perception has been created to project the visual information on the road within the driver's gaze in AR applications.…”

“…[ 111 ] The holograms are computationally created, and are layered at different distances within the observer's replay field from near‐eye and extending to the far field. [ 112 ] Positive lenses could be utilized as Fourier transformers for phase transformation. [ 113 ] A layered hologram based on the angular tilting concept and a graphic rendering approach generated a 3D hologram.…”

“…The pre-pressed glass enters the autoclave, where the residual air is sucked out [20][21]. The glass is checked for defects and then goes to another process, where other parts are applied to the glass, such as polyurethane profiles, which are glued to the glass with the help of polyurethane adhesives [22][23].…”
