Perimenopause is a complex period in women's lives. This period is marked by emotional, societal, and physiological challenges, which can be particularly challenging for women over 40. This research aims to explore the emotional, societal, and physiological challenges faced by these women during perimenopause and to redefine the paradigms of motherhood and ageing. The study uses a literature study approach to explore the narratives surrounding achieving first-time motherhood in midlife, the intensive caregiving responsibilities, the disjunction between societal norms and biological realities, and the uncertainties of perimenopausal changes. The findings provide valuable insights for healthcare providers and enrich our understanding of women's experiences at the intersection of midlife, motherhood, and perimenopause.
