Life Cycle Assessment of Incineration Technique for Management of Used Sanitary Napkins

Abstract

Solid waste management is becoming very serious problem in world. Among various disposal methods incineration is the one. Almost 90 percent of content of SN is plastic. The plastic used in SN is non-biodegradable which is not only harmful for human health but also for environment. SN stays in the landfill for up to 800 years. Problem of disposal of used SN increases rapidly. For safe disposal of used SN incinerators are good solution or technique. If incinerators are used according to ecofriendly guidelines then they create less pollution. They should be operated at certain specific temperature so that they emit less harmful gasses. Incinerator which is used for hygienic disposal of SN and biomedical waste in an instant way and generated ash is collected in a bottom ash tray. Incinerator designed to operate very safely and easily. Disposal of SN by burning process required less time. Life cycle assessment is also carried out to calculate the impact of solid waste on environment. This may prove to be beneficial in current scenario.
