Abstract:The cowpea weevil Callosobruchus maculatus (F) was reared on a cowpea to study its life cycle. The study revealed that egg, larval and pupal stages were completed in 4-5, 15-19 and 4-5 days, respectively. Similarly, the duration of the adult male and female was 10-12 and 10-14 days, respectively, with the total developmental period being 38 to 40 days. The male and female measured 2.30± 0.15 and 3.23± 0.19 mm long, and 1.25± 0.05 and 1.47± 0.11 mm broad, respectively.
