Lifetime and nonlinearity of modulated surface plasmon for black phosphorus sensing application

Abstract: Black phosphorus surface plasmon (BPSP) is a new promising candidate material for electromagnetic field confinement at the subwavelength scale. Here, we theoretically investigated the light confinement, second-order nonlinearity and lifetimes of tunable surface plasmons in nanostructured black phosphorus nanoflakes with superstrates. The grating structure can enhance the local optical field of the fundamental wave (FW) and second harmonic wave (SHW) due to the surface plasmon resonance. Based on the coupled mo… Show more

“…Therefore, this resonance mode of our designed absorber can be used to adjust our absorber to achieve the desired effect in different environments. It is well known that in practical applications it is very important for devices to be insensitive to angle and polarization [67][68][69]. Therefore, we performed additional simulation calculations to study the effects of angle and polarization on triple-band absorbent materials.…”

“…[193][194][195][196][197] In the past few years, optical modulators based on 2DMs have been an extensive research topic and great progress has been made. [198][199][200][201][202] Specifically, 2DMs optical modulators such as mode-locked fiber lasers, [203,204] Q-switching lasers, [205,206] saturable absorbers, [207,208] polarization controllers, [209] and wavelength converters [210] have already been demonstrated. For example, graphene mode-locked fiber lasers that generated pulse light with an ultrashort duration were achieved.…”

“…[242] In addition, free-space EA modulators based on multilayer BP have also been demonstrated. [210,243] Although the operational wavelength of modulators has been extended to the MIR region, high-performance waveguide-integrated EA modulators based on BP have rarely been achieved.…”

“…So, various systems, including optical cavities, [ 36–39 ] nanoclusters, [ 40–43 ] photonic crystals, [ 44–45 ] gratings, [ 46–49 ] metamaterials, [ 50–53 ] metasurfaces, [ 54–57 ] and many others, [ 58–63 ] have been proposed theoretically and observed experimentally to exhibit Fano resonance. Inspired by recent progress in numerous novel materials, [ 64–69 ] including 2D materials with exotic optoelectronic properties, [ 70–72 ] superconducting materials, [ 73,74 ] phase‐changed materials, [ 75,76 ] low loss dielectric materials [ 77,78 ] and quantum dots, [ 79–82 ] many opportunities to investigate Fano resonance are anticipated.…”
