Lifetime maximization by partitioning approach in wireless sensor networks

Abstract: Lifetime is a key parameter in the design of routing protocols in energy-constrained wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Conventional single-path routing schemes may not be optimal in maximizing network lifetime. In this paper, we present a new routing algorithm based on the optimal number of hops to partition the path from the source to the sink. The algorithm is based on energy consumption constrained routing method. The mathematical model uses mixed-integer programming (MIP), based on the Lagrangian relaxation… Show more

“…The Wireless Charging Vehicle was used in [29], which was used to traverse the network area and charge the sensor nodes without any physical contact. In [28], the authors deliberated the routing algorithm which rotates around on the optimal number of hops amid source and sink. The classical use of mixed-integer programming based on the Lagrangian relaxation scheme, to pronounce crucial parameter, which oversee the hop-by-hop switching.…”

“…Due to a variety of reasons including their small size, low cost, ease of deployment (deterministic or random) and simplified transmission-related protocols in terms of medium access channels and routing [3], it has been found that the antenna array is a key technology for a broad spectrum of future IoT applications ranging from weather forecasting or complex industrial plant monitoring to military surveillance [4].…”

“…Routing and clustering based techniques for the operation time maximisation were surveyed in [8]. A partitioning‐based multi‐path routeing was considered in [9], and a hybrid K‐means and ant‐colony optimisation‐based clustering was proposed in [10]. Fuzzy‐logic‐based clustering with ant‐colony‐based inter‐cluster routeing was proposed in [11].…”
