Light‐Addressable Nanoclusters of Ultrasmall Iron Oxide Nanoparticles for Enhanced and Dynamic Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Arthritis

Abstract: Design of novel nanoplatforms with single imaging elements for dynamic and enhanced T1/T2‐weighted magnetic resonance (MR) imaging of diseases still remains significantly challenging. Here, a facile strategy to synthesize light‐addressable ultrasmall Fe3O4 nanoparticles (NPs) that can form nanoclusters (NCs) under laser irradiation for enhanced and dynamic T1/T2‐weighted MR imaging of inflammatory arthritis is reported. Citric acid‐stabilized ultrasmall Fe3O4 NPs synthesized via a solvothermal approach are lin… Show more

“…Composite nanomaterials can make the targeted release of biological agents a reality, and the use of dipalmitoyl lecithin is an ideal method for nanoparticles to target AECs. 31 33 Exogenous siRNAs must pass through the cell membrane and reach a sufficient concentration in the cytoplasm to successfully silence the expression of specific genes. 34 However, a safe and effective transport vector has become an important obstacle in the development of this.…”

“…The ovarian carcinoma, especially, having the highest mortality rate in gynecological cancers, is difficult to theranostics drawing support from nanoplatforms due to its dense extracellular matrix [ 7 , 8 ]. In recent years, some novel nanocarriers have been designed by optimizing their physicochemical properties, such as size, softness, shape, surface charge and modification, to achieve highly efficient delivery, to improve theranostic efficacy and reduce systemic toxicity [ [9] , [10] , [11] , [12] , [13] ].…”

“…Targeted accumulation and multimode CT/PA/Thermal images of tumor For theranositc application in vivo, we established the subcutaneous xenograft of SKoV3 in nude mice as ovarian carcinoma model. The multimode images ability of theranostic nanoplatforms is critical for the accurate diagnosis, tumor localization, post-treatment and therapeutic outcome monitoring [49,50]. After intravenous injection (i.v.)…”
