Shear thickening gel (STG) is a promising substrate used for flexible protective materials, which has superior dimensional stability without gel side leakage and delamination when sustaining long-standing time. STG/high-performance fiber flexible composites exhibit high-energy absorption capacity for multivelocity impact. This article reveals the shear thickening mechanism of STG that lays a theoretical foundation for the performance analysis of STG composites. The preparation methods of STG/high-performance fiber flexible composites, including impregnation, hand lay-up, filling, and lamination methods, are compared. The energy absorption principle of STG/high-performance fiber flexible composites on multi-velocity impact and the destruction morphology was analyzed. The coupling effects and functional applications of STG functional composites with nanoparticles, magnetic particles, and conductive particles are summarized. It provides more suitable conditions for designing new multifunctional protective equipment and manufacturing advanced intelligent, protective devices.

In extreme environments, the simultaneous requirements of puncture resistance, acid and alkali resistance, and chemical corrosion resistance are crucial for the design of safety protection materials. To address these requirements, this study employed a "scratch coating" technique, combining modified silica nanoparticles (nano F−SiO 2 ) and thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers (TPU) with aramid fabrics. This approach ensured that the composites were both soft and puncture resistant. Additionally, a simple and cost-effective spraying method was utilized to create a multifunctional coating comprising nanosilica, micron-polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), and fluorinated alkyl silane. Furthermore, the study investigated the effect of different lamination angles of the fabric on puncture resistance. The results demonstrated that the soft composite exhibited outstanding puncture resistance, resistance to strong acids and bases, and super-double sparsity. Notably, the maximum puncture resistance reached 515.50 N, which was 33.02 times higher than that of the pure fabric (15.61 N). Similarly, the maximum knife puncture resistance reached 247.42 N, representing a 10.77-fold increase compared to that of the pure aramid fabric (22.97 N). Notably, the obtained coating demonstrated outstanding superhydrophobicity with a water contact angle of 163.8°and a sliding angle of 3.2°. It exhibited remarkable durability when immersed in acidic or basic solutions for 120 h and exposed to outdoor conditions for more than 30 days. Importantly, the micronano coating displayed exceptional stability even when subjected to highly corrosive chemicals such as concentrated sulfuric acid (98%) and sodium hydroxide (40%) for up to 12 h. In summary, this study introduces a novel approach and method for designing flexible puncture-resistant composites with multifunctional properties. Intelligent impact‐protection wearable devices often require intricate circuitry to operate, which hinders the timely display of impact‐related injuries. Consequently, it is imperative to develop intelligent protective materials that are self‐sufficient and capable of visualization. In this work, the impact protection material shear‐stiffening gel (SSG) is combined with the mechanoluminescent (ML) material ZnS:Cu/PDMS@SiO2 to create ML‐SSG. This material embodies various protective features, including impact protection, force visualization, flame resistance, and long‐distance passive control, making it ideal for intelligent wearable devices. In light of the significant shear stiffening effect of SSG, ML‐SSG effectively dissipates up to 80% of the impact energy and exhibits excellent impact resistance. Concurrently, ML‐SSG is also capable of visualizing impact injuries, displaying and warning in real‐time via mechanoluminescence, and assessing the impact force based on the intensity of mechanoluminescence. The incorporation of SiO2 and ZnS:Cu has resulted in ZnS:Cu/PDMS@SiO2 with remarkable flame‐retardant property. This innovative material significantly improves the performance of ML‐SSG in complex environments. In addition, ML‐SSG realizes human–computer interaction through neural network based on mechanoluminescence display characteristics. This research significantly expands the potential applications of multifunctional protective materials in various complicated environments, thereby promoting the development of wearable protective devices.
