“…On the basis of a tenyear research program (POPSU1; POPSU 2) [2], Liefooghe et al (2017) provided an initial outline of this IES, characterizing the emergence of the ecosystem and identifying its pivotal actor (Euratechnologies) as well as other core actors. This ecosystem emerged from public and private initiatives engaged in a strategy to reverse the declining regional dynamic towards new industrial specializations (Paris and Stevens, 2000). Euratechnologies was created (2006) to orchestrate relationships between actors in the ICT and digital sector and to promote the development of startups.…”

“…Cross-border cooperation on the British-Franco-Belgian border has been studied in geographic monographs (Hamez, 2004;Perrin, 2013;Verger, 2011) and in numerous articles (Church & Reid, 1999;Duhamel & Renard, 2002Durand, 2013;Durand & Nelles, 2014;Durand & Perrin, 2017;Heddebaut, 2004;Leloup, 2010;Maneveau, 2008;Paris, 2002;Perrin, 2012). At first sight, the British-Franco-Belgian border consists of two urban cross-border regions: the one around Lille, and the other one on the Franco-Belgian coastline.…”

“…A collection of academic publications applies a complementary analytical approach to individual case studies, sometimes with a thematic focus. The spatial structure of the cross-border region around Lille has for instance been studied in terms of a metropolitan approach (Paris, 2002), through cross-border flows of residents (Clément, 2015), and of workers or consumers (Letniowska-Swiat, 2002), through the question of the integration process (Durand & Perrin, 2017), or through projects of urban planning (Reitel & Moullé, 2015). Additionally, the local urban planning agency published an impressive Atlas of the cross-border Metropolitan Area of Lille (ADULM, MBM & INSEE NPdC, 2012).…”
