The article discusses the most important issues for industrial quality assurance systems, such as calculation of capability and performance indices. Techniques being currently used at most enterprises, their advantages and disadvantages are assessed. Modern methods for calculating capability indices are proposed and a conclusion is made about the need to streamline the concepts of capability and performance. A conclusion is made about the need to use the proposed technique, which main difference is the ability to evaluate processes by the real distribution law, as well as about the risk of using EXCEL tables offered by many developers of quality assurance systems.
