LINC01063 functions as an oncogene in melanoma through regulation of miR-5194-mediated SOX12 expression

Abstract: Melanoma is one of the most aggressive skin cancers and a major cause of cancer-linked deaths worldwide. As the morbidity and mortality of melanoma are increasing, it is necessary to elucidate the potential mechanism influencing melanoma progression. Tumor tissues and adjacent normal tissues (5 cm away from tumors) from 22 melanoma patients at the I–II stage and 39 patients at the III–VI stage were acquired. The expression of LINC01063 in melanoma was estimated by quantitative PCR. Functional assays were emplo… Show more

“…Its involvement in these mechanisms suggests its potential as a key regulator of cancer progression and metastasis [ 63 , 64 ]. Zhang et al suggested that LINC01063 was linked to HCC ferroptosis and impacted patient survival [ 65 ], and it is also thought to be involved in autophagy and cuproptosis in different types of tumors [ 66 , 67 ].…”

“…However, SOX12 expression in melanoma remains unclear. In 2022, Xu et al found that LINC01063 could regulate melanoma growth through the mir-5194/SOX12 axis [27].…”

“…Next, 8 Cuproptosis-connected lncRNAs (IRAG1-AS1 AF064860.2 AC233266.2 LINC01063 AC084781.2 LINC01518 UNC5B-AS1 AL050404.1) were detected via LASSO regression and multivariate Cox regression analysis. In the lncRNAs model connected to Cuproptosis, UNC5B-AS1was an elevated risk factor for the osteosarcoma prognosis in Cuproptosis-related lncRNAs [31], which enhanced the liver cancer cells' migration, growth, and epithelial interstitial transformation [32], and was highly expressed in papillary thyroid carcinoma [33],LINC01063 was an oncogene in melanoma [34] and it was autophagyassocitaed lncRNA to anticipate the Colorectal tumor prognosis [35],About LINC01518, it was shown to be an endogenous RNA that competes in oesophageal squamous cell cancer [36]. So far, there has been no detailed investigation on the remaining ve lncRNAs connected to Cuproptosis.…”
