Line width compression and temporal coherence of stimulated Brillouin scattering

Abstract: The effect of line width compression of stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) is investigated experimentally. It is found that the line width compression is directly related to the compression of pulse duration. A new method of measuring the line width of SBS through measuring the pulse duration is proposed.
