A B S T R A C TThis comparative study examines the moderating role of risk management in project planning and project success in the construction business of the UK and Pakistan. The data was gathered from 152 project managers (76 from both economies each) using a survey questionnaire. The purposive sampling technique was used to ensure fair representation of sample size and the RAND formula was used to select the project managers. For quantitative analysis, partial least square structural equation modelling technique was utilised. The results confirmed that project planning had a statistically significant impact on project success. Furthermore, risk management significantly moderated the relationship between project planning and project success in the construction businesses despite being in two different economies. The paper contributes to the enhancement of the body of knowledge intended for global companies and academicians aiming to implement risk management frameworks to enhance project success and ensure the effectiveness of project planning in a competitive business environment. It offers a new perspective to investigate the relationship between project planning and project success through moderating the effect of risk management, which is a new theoretical dimension for construction business and the field of project management. It is proposed to the governments and construction businesses operating in the UK and Pakistan to validate the empirical research framework in the cross-cultural context while assessing risk and uncertainty. It helps the construction business in the evaluation of risk while planning and successfully implementing project strategies. The main purpose of the paper is to establish which elements of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) have the biggest influence on the activities of Polish start-ups. Research Design & Methods: The diagnosis was based on an analysis of individual components of entrepreneurial orientation and presentation of the results of research carried out by the author among 382 start-ups in Poland. Findings: The research provide that, innovative activity of companies and exploring new market opportunities and possibilities by start-ups were important factors conditioning the operations and development of the companies studied. It is advisable to deepen the current theory of entrepreneurship orientation in relation to start-ups, understood as young innovative companies. Contribution & Value Added: The theoretical-empirical deliberations presented in the article may be a valuable source of information within the scope of the influence the particular elements of entrepreneurial orientation have on start-ups. However, for entrepreneurs they may be an impulse in the field of effective use of the elements of EO in the process of building competitiveness of young companies in Poland which is reflected in particular pillars of EO. The main objective of the present study is to investigate the risk factors influencing on construction firm's project success in Pakistan. The study uses the partial least square structural equation modelling technique to analyse the data collected from 61 construction firms. The study finds positive impacts of design risk, financial risk, technical risk and labour risk on the success of the project. Alternatively, the current study finds no relationship between external risk factors and the success of the project.
