Lipid‐lowering drugs and mitochondrial function: effects of HMG‐CoA reductase inhibitors on serum ubiquinone and blood lactate/pyruvate ratio

Abstract: 1 Statins inhibit synthesis of mevalonate, a precursor of ubiquinone that is a central compound of the mitochondrial respiratory chain.
