Lipophilicity evaluation of some thiazolyl‐1,3,4‐oxadiazole derivatives with antifungal activity

Abstract: The chromatographic behavior of a series of thiazolyl-1,3,4-oxadiazoles with antifungal activity was studied by reverse-phase thin-layer chromatography (RP-TLC). The lipophilicity parameters derived from RP-TLC were correlated with the data derived from liquid-chromatography mass-spectrometry. Good linear relationships were observed between the chromatographic lipophilicity parameters and the theoretical lipophilicity descriptors (logP) generated by various computer software and internet modules. Principal com… Show more

“…Nowadays, particular attention is given to hybrid molecules containing a thiazole nucleus in combination with other pharmacophore features. Numerous hybrid molecules of thiazole combined with different heterocycles, such as thiophene, pyrazole, triazole, 1,3,4-oxadiazole, pyridine, 1,4-dihydropyridine, indole, quinoline, pyrimidine, pyrazine, triazine, and pyrazoline, were designed, synthesized, and evaluated as antimicrobial agents [48][49][50]. Moreover, novel hydrazones and Schiff bases bearing a thiazole scaffold have demonstrated good antimicrobial activity [51,52].…”

“…In contrast to the classical linear regression, multivariate methods can give a more comprehensive insight into the dependencies that exist among the analyzed data . In order to establish a model that defines a qualitative and/or quantitative relationship between the chemical structure and the studied properties of molecules, as well as the relationship between the studied parameters of potential biological activity, all the obtained results, R M 0 , m , determined in both modifiers and both stationary phases, including the standard parameter of lipophilicity, pharmacokinetic predictors, and toxicity parameters, were analyzed using cluster analysis (CA) and principal component analysis (PCA).…”

“…Given the importance of lipophilicity for the penetration of microbial membranes by bioactive compounds [16], the theoretical logP of the newly synthesized thiazolylsalicylamide derivatives 5a-o was computationally estimated using Swiss-ADME [6].…”
