Liquefaction Potential and Vs30 Structure in the Middle-Chelif Basin, Northwestern Algeria, by Ambient Vibration Data Inversion

Abstract: The Middle-Chelif basin, in northwestern Algeria, is located in a seismically active region. In its western part lies the El-Asnam fault, a thrust fault responsible for several strong earthquakes. The most important being the El-Asnam earthquake (Ms = 7.3) of 1980. In the present study, ambient vibration data with single-station and array techniques were used to investigate the dynamic properties of the ground and to estimate the Vs30 structure in the main cities of the basin. Soil resonance frequencies vary f… Show more

“… The possibility of remote management by connecting the server to the Internet. The system has been designed to work with up to 10 sensors covering an area of approximately 250 m in diameter, which satisfies the needs required in previous seismic microzonation studies, e.g., [ 21 , 36 , 37 , 38 ]. …”

“…Therefore, the overall devastation of the dam structure can take place. In this work, numerical modeling, analysis, and simulations are executed on an Iraqi dam (case study) via the PLAXIS software package to identify and determine the critical contributions and significant benefits of intelligent techniques and smart approaches that can be adopted to boost the dam structure's effectiveness, performance, stability, and robustness when severe earthquakes occur [15][16][17][18][19][20][21]. Conducted an analysis exploring the soil liquefaction phenomenon and classifying critical characteristics and observations of this problem.…”
