“…However, taken together the current results with those from correlation of eqs and indicates a big gap between the EEV modal and those three empirical equations. This may be due to the fewer parameters in EEV models to express the experimental binodal data, which could also be seen in our previous works. …”

“…The two empirical equations separately created by Othmer–Tobias and Bancroft, which have been widespread applied to model phase equilibrium data for many systems and have got satisfied results in our previous works, was used here to correlate the experimental LLE compositions. The general forms are …”

“…The binodal curves were determined by the titration method (i.e., cloud point method), which is the same method used in our previous work. A glass vessel with a volume of 50 cm 3 was used for the phase equilibria experiment. First, an IL solution of known mass fraction was added to a vessel, and a salt solution of known concentration was then added dropwise using a small-sized pipet until the mixture became cloudy.…”

“…Most studies on ionic liquid aqueous two-phase systems have concentrated on imidazolium-based ionic liquids, and there has been little research that has concentrated on pyridinium-based ionic liquids, especially on pyridinium trifluoromethanesulfonate-based ionic liquids. As a kind of useful material in the synthesis of natural substances, metal triflates can be stable in the water and maintain the high efficiency of catalytic activity which can be recycled while the activity is not significantly decreased, so as to reduce pollution from the source. , Our previous work reported that binary mixtures of pyridinium-based ionic liquids with specific compositions could attain extractive properties. In the ATPSs containing ILs and inorganic salts, high concentrations of these inorganic salts are not desirable in effluent streams because of environmental concerns. According to reports, the nontoxic, biodegradable organic citrate salt can adopt the form of an ATPS with ionic liquids, which do not increase pollution levels .…”
