Liquid–Liquid Equilibrium for Ternary Mixture Water + (n-Propanol/Isopropanol) + Cyclohexanone at 298.15 and 308.15 K

Abstract: For separation of the azeotropes of n-propanol (NPA) + water and isopropanol (IPA) + water by liquid–liquid extraction, cyclohexanone was selected as the extraction solvent. The liquid–liquid equilibrium (LLE) behavior of the two mixtures (water + NPA + cyclohexanone) and (water + IPA + cyclohexanone) was investigated at temperatures 298.15 and 308.15 K. The LLE phase diagrams of the two mixtures belong to Treybal’s type I. According to the measured data, distribution ratio and separation factor obtained by ca… Show more

“…Table lists D and S values, and the comparison with the literature , is shown in Figures and . It can be seen from Table that the S gradually decreases with the addition of IPA, and the system of 1-octanol decreases more obviously than that of n -propyl acetate.…”

“…There are few studies on alcohols as extractants, and this work also studies the liquid–liquid behavior of water + IPA + 1-octanol. However, the current research on the LLE data of IPA and water systems at different temperatures is still insufficient. Therefore, it is urgent to obtain more reliable LLE data to realize industrial extraction and separation of IPA and water.…”

“…Each sample was measured multiple times to ensure that there are at least three results with a deviation of no more than 0.1%, and their average value was used for reporting. The standard uncertainty of specimen composition was obtained by GUM and related standards , whose value does not exceed ±0.0046.…”
