In this paper, we review the modification method of sodium ion anode materials that are prepared using pitch‐based carbon. The current status of pitch‐based carbon preparation of anode materials for sodium‐ion batteries by heteroatom doping, morphology construction, and composite materials is introduced. The effects of different modification methods of pitch‐based carbon on their sodium storage performance were analyzed and compared. A variety of pitch‐based carbon modification mechanisms are also elucidated. From a microscopic perspective, the characteristics of pitch‐based carbon applied to the anode of sodium‐ion batteries are expounded, which has a certain guiding significance for the rational design of the microstructure of pitch‐based sodium‐ion battery anode materials. The commercial application of pitch‐based sodium‐ion battery anode materials relies on a simple and effective modification process.
