Abstract: Conrad named women attorneys in Hawaii who were not active here; Queen Ka' ahumanu was credited with the beginning of modem law and justice in the Hawaiian Kingdom; women lay lawyers of the territorial courts were noted; and Emma Metcalf Beckley Nakuina was recognized as a commissioner to adjudicate water rights from 1892 to 1907.A correction is necessary concerning the names of Samuel Wilder King and Samuel Pailthorpe King, father and son.
