Abstract:The novel coronavirus disease 2019 is caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2). Mortality attributable to COVID-19 remains considerably high, with case fatality rates as high as 8-11%. Early medical intervention in patients who are seriously and critically ill with COVID-19 reduces fatal outcomes.
