Background. Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) has the similar curative effects to surgery, but RFA will lead to higher postoperative local recurrence rate. 3D-CEUS is a minimally invasive examination method, which is used to analyze the sensitivity to postoperative recurrence in this study. Methods. The clinical data of 60 patients with liver cancer admitted to our hospital (February 2018-February 2020) were retrospectively analyzed. All patients were treated with RFA and were followed up with 3D-CEUS, MRI, and enhanced CT examination after surgery. The ROC curve was used to analyze the differences of different examination methods in judging postoperative recurrence. Results. For the 60 patients, 52 patients (86.7%) had a single lesion and 8 patients (13.3%) had multiple lesions, with a total of 72 lesions. After RFA, 56 lesions (77.8%) were completely inactivated and 16 lesions (22.2%) remained. Totally inactivated lesions were detected as follows: 51 (91.1%) by 3D-CEUS, 42 (75.0%) by MRI, and 50 (89.3%) by enhanced CT. During a 2-year follow-up, a total of 26 recurrent lesions were detected, 24 (92.3%) by 3D-CEUS, 12 (46.2%) by MRI, and 25 (96.2%) by enhanced CT, indicating that the sensitivity of 3D-CEUS and enhanced CT was obviously higher than that of MRI ( P < 0.001 ), without conspicuous difference between sensitivity of 3D-CEUS and enhanced CT ( P > 0.05 ). Conclusion. As a new imaging examination method based on artificial intelligence, 3D-CEUS has a high sensitivity in patients with liver cancer who underwent RFA, which can effectively judge the recurrence after surgery and should be widely used in practice.

Background: Sarcopenia was recently identified as a poor prognostic factor in patients with malignant tumors. The present study investigated the effect of the preoperative albumin–globulin score (AGS), skeletal muscle index (SMI), and combination of AGS and SMI (CAS) on short- and long-term survival outcomes following deceased donor liver transplantation (DDLT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and aimed to identify prognostic factors. Methods: A total of 221 consecutive patients who underwent DDLT for HCC were enrolled in this retrospective study between January 2015 and December 2019. The skeletal muscle cross-sectional area was measured by CT (computed tomography). Clinical cutoffs of albumin (ALB), globulin (GLB), and sarcopenia were defined by receiver operating curve (ROC). The effects of the AGS, SMI, and CAS grade on the preoperative characteristics and long-term outcomes of the included patients were analyzed. Results: Patients who had low AGS and high SMI were associated with better overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS), shorter intensive care unit (ICU) stay, and fewer postoperative complications (grade ≥ 3, Clavien–Dindo classification). Stratified by CAS grade, 46 (20.8%) patients in grade 1 were associated with the best postoperative prognosis, whereas 79 (35.7%) patients in grade 3 were linked to the worst OS and RFS. The CAS grade showed promising accuracy in predicting the OS and RFS of HCC patients [areas under the curve (AUCs) were 0.710 and 0.700, respectively]. Male recipient, Child–Pugh C, model for end-stage liver disease (MELD) score > 20, and elevated CAS grade were identified as independent risk factors for OS and RFS of HCC patients after DDLT. Conclusion: CAS grade, a novel prognostic index combining preoperative AGS and SMI, was closely related to postoperative short-term and long-term outcomes for HCC patients who underwent DDLT. Graft allocation and clinical decision making may be referred to CAS grade evaluation.

Action of Loganin on the Oncogenic Phenotypes of Liver Cancer Cells To investigate the action of loganin on the oncogenic phenotypes of liver cancer cells. Huh7 cells were treated with loganin, or loganin and 20 μmol/l mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling pathway inhibitor SP600125. 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5 diphenyl tetrazolium bromide and Transwell assays detects cell abilities. Western blot detects E-cadherin, N-cadherin, vimentin, phosphorylated-extracellular signal-regulated kinase, extracellular signal-regulated kinase, phosphorylated-p38, and p38 protein expressions. Cell survival rate, the number of migratory and invasive Huh7 cells were significantly reduced with the increasing dose of loganin. E-cadherin content was increased, and contents of N-cadherin, vimentin, phosphorylated-extracellular signal-regulated kinase, and phosphorylated-p38 proteins were decreased in cells with the increasing dose of loganin. SP600125 could enhance the effects mediated by loganin on Huh7 cells. Loganin could significantly restrain the proliferation and metastasis of liver cancer cells by inhibiting the mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway.
