“…The r i and q i values used for the UNIQUAC model are presented in Table 4, while the estimated interaction parameters A ij e A ji are presented in Table 5. It must be pointed out that only 10 parameters were adjusted in the present work, since the interaction parameters between ethanol and water were used as obtained by Kanda et al [12], who studied the LLE of palmitic acid + ethanol + water/glycerol. For the binary interaction parameters fitting a set with 9 experimental tie lines was used, which included 52 experimental mass fraction information of TAG, FFA, ethanol and water.…”

“…This information will be useful in the design of the purification stage, where the hot-water washing step can provide a low ethanol concentration in the biodiesel phase. Although many authors have produced LLE data for systems involving fatty acids, short chain alcohols, water and the corresponding esters [6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13]15,[23][24][25][27][28][29][30][31][32], our study presents a new set of experimental data regarding LLE obtained for mixtures containing fatty acids from soybean soapstock acid oil (FA-SSAO) and their corresponding esters (EE-SSAO). The experimental and theoretical thermodynamic data that we have obtained regarding mutual solubility and phase behavior of the reactants and products of the esterification reaction can be used in the modeling and optimization of a low-temperature enzyme-catalyzed esterification process.…”

“…The LLE measurements were performed based on the work of Kanda et al [15], with a few modifications for the experimental procedure. The experiments were carried out in a jacketed glass vessel, of 30 mL total volume, that was attached to a thermostatic bath (Tecnal TE-184) and agitated using a magnetic stirrer (Fisatom 752).…”

“…Determinação das curvas de solubilidade: Os dados de equilíbrio líquido-líquido (ELL) foram obtidos em células de equilíbrio conforme descrito por (da Silva et al, 2013, Kanda et al, 2013. A temperatura das células foi monitorada por indicador de temperatura Watlow SD31 com sensor PT100 (± 0.1 ºC) e controlada por banho ultratermostático (Nova Ética 521/D).…”
