LncRNA HULC as a potential predictor of prognosis and clinicopathological features in patients with digestive system tumors: a meta-analysis

Abstract: Objective: This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the correlation between lncRNA HULC, prognosis and clinicopathological characteristics in patients with digestive system tumors. Methods: The relevant literatures were collected through PubMed, Web of Science and Embase up to February 2021. Hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated to assess the prognostic value of HULC in patients with digestive system tumors. The clinicopathological characteristics of HULC in patients were estimated… Show more

“…Our study has some strengths (1) Our research focuses on preoperative (admission) D-dimer, avoiding signi cant uctuations in Ddimer values caused by different surgical types and ranges. (2) We addressed the nonlinear problem in this study and further explored it; (3) this study is an observational study and therefore susceptible to potential confounding. We used strict statistical adjustment to minimize residual confounders (4) We handled target independent variable as both continuous variable and categorical variable.…”

“…As is known to all, digestive tract cancers (e.g., esophageal, gastric, and colorectal cancers) are common malignant tumors and major causes of mortality worldwide (1). According to the World Health Organization (WHO) tumor classi cation, digestive system tumors include esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, small intestinal cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, gallbladder cancer, cholangiocarcinoma, pancreatic cancer, and colorectal cancer (2). Gastrointestinal (GI) cancer has the highest incidence and mortality rates of all cancers (3), it is also the leading cause of cancer-related deaths (4).…”

“…Several studies have confirmed that lncRNAs are aberrantly expressed in HCC and may play a key role in the development of HCC. For example, highly upregulated in liver cancer (HULC) is located at is located on the chromosome 6p24.3, producing a long RNA that was discovered as upregulated in HCC and is associated with cancer progression [ 26 ]. WRAP53 in peripheral blood is an independent prognostic marker predicting high recurrence rates in HCC patients [ 23 ].…”
