LncRNA SNHG6 Upregulates KPNA5 to Overcome Gemcitabine Resistance in Pancreatic Cancer via Sponging miR-944

Abstract: Gemcitabine (GEM) is the gold-standard therapeutic regimen for patients with pancreatic cancer (PC); however, patients may receive limited benefits due to the drug resistance of GEM. LncRNA SNHG6 is reported to play key roles in drug resistance, but its role and molecular mechanism in PC remain incompletely understood. We found that LncRNA SNHG6 is drastically downregulated in GEM-resistant PC and is positively correlated with the survival of PC patients. With the help of bioinformatic analysis and molecular a… Show more

“…It is generally accepted that lncRNAs exert their biological roles by acting as miRNA sponges and forming an lncRNA–miRNA–mRNA axis 29 . SNHG6 sponges miR‐944 and promotes KPNA5 expression, thereby weakening gemcitabine resistance in pancreatic cancer 30 . In addition, SNHG6 enhances hyperoxia‐induced lung cell injury via miR‐335‐KLF5 27 .…”

“…[9] A previous study elucidated the involvement of lncRNAs in the development and treatment of PAAD as carcinogenic factors or tumor suppressors, thus highlighting lncRNAs as potential diagnostic and therapeutic targets. [10][11][12][13] It is now generally believed that genomic instability may have greater diagnostic potential for early detection of cancer. [14] Recent studies have found that molecular subtypes of pancreatic cancer are associated with specific copy number abnormalities of mutated genes such as Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog (KRAS).…”
