Load Balancing based on Bee Colony Algorithm with Partitioning of Public Clouds

Abstract: Cloud computing is an emerging trend in the IT industry that provides new opportunities to control costs associated with the creation and maintenance of applications. Of prevalent issues in cloud computing, load balancing is a primary one as it has a significant impact on efficiency and plays a leading role in improved management. In this paper, by using a heuristic search technique called the bee colony algorithm, tasks are balanced on a virtual machine such that their waiting time in the queue is minimized. … Show more

“…These methods are based on meta-heuristics and are inspired mainly by nature and biological systems, such as Muth flame, Ant colony, bee colony optimization, particle swarm optimization, etc. [8], [9], [19], [20]. These methods simulate the behavior of insects or animals for food search or survival struggle [19], [20].…”

“…In addition to solving load balancing issues in distributed systems, other efforts based on the HB algorithm have been taken as well. Paper [11] presented a load balancing method based on the BC algorithm. This method employs a resource cost model in which the cloud is partitioned into several sectors.…”

“…Each scheduling algorithm is based on one or more parameters. The most targeted objectives are the overall execution time, the cost, and the use of resources (which also indicates the quality of service (QoS)) [22,7,9]. Several task scheduling algorithms based on metaheuristic algorithms, such as BGA, HGOW-ABC, GWO and ACO algorithms have been proposed for cloud load balancing [9,14,23,25].…”
