“…As with the most common cutaneous malignant melanoma, the role of chemotherapy, immunotherapy with interferon-alpha and radiotherapy is controversial; they have been traditionally used in the palliative setting or after a surgical relapse, with limited effi cacy. However, there are several case reports published of adjuvant radiotherapy or chemotherapy with different combinations of chemotherapy, such as dacarbazine or carboplatin in our case, which seem to improve the overall results of surgery [17][18][19][20]. In conclusion, diagnosis at an earlier stage and radical surgery with wide margins, alongside adjuvant chemotherapy or radiotherapy in some cases, are the main measures that can improve the poor prognosis of this rare malignancy.…”

“…2 Although the combination of these drugs with immunotherapies has been used based on the effectiveness against the cutaneous melanoma, 19 some case reports indicated that the drug combination contributed to PMME treatment. 20,21 Although the patient in our case received DAV for 10 months after the curative resection, it is unclear whether the adjuvant DAV prolonged patient survival. This is because DAV showed no significant effect on the metastatic PMME after it recurred.…”

“…Other options for non-surgical or adjuvant treatment include chemotherapy, chemoradiotherapy, endocrinotherapy and immunotherapy. However, most of these treatment modalities are not widely accepted [15]. …”
