The Internet-of-Things (IoT) has been used with greater frequency to track peoples’ daily activities, particularly those conducted indoors. Wi-Fi technology has been also been used as an alternative to global navigation satellite system (GNSS) technologies to track indoor activities. The received signal strength indicator (RSSI) is widely used to assist in the positioning of Wi-Fi signals. However, the RSSI-based technique suffers from multipath, non-line-of-sight (NLOS) problems and the fluctuation of RSSI measurements via Wi-Fi chipsets. One of the most well-known RSSI-based approaches is to apply the fingerprinting method to do the positioning. However, the fingerprinting-based form has an additional problem due to the lack of RSSI data samples, specifically in harsh area with a huge number of classes or reference points (RPs) and an unstable matching process algorithm. To mitigate the problems of the RSSI-based fingerprinting approach, this research proposes a novel matching process algorithm called Norm_MSATE_LSTM. We first performed the augmentation process to increase the RSSI data records via the Mean Stander deviation Augmentation TEchnique (MSATE). The RSSI records were normalized (norm), and the long short-term memory (LSTM) technique was applied to estimate the correct positions. Finally, the proposed matching algorithm was compared with the stand-alone matching algorithms, including the weighted k-nearest neighbors (WkNN) and LSTM. The results obtained from the experiments and the simulated experiments using OMNeT++ show that the proposed matching algorithm may improve positioning accuracy by 33.1% and 57.5% when only augmentation and augmentation with normalization are applied, respectively.

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected people’s lives in all aspects. This pandemic has raised the usage of ubiquitous networks such as mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) for information exchange in various domains. MANET is a group of versatile nodes that communicates with each other without relying on a fixed physical framework. One of the prominent features of MANET is its versatile topology. Because of this striking feature, MANETs are employed in various domains like defense and combat operations, disaster management, healthcare, and environmental monitoring. In this paper, we enlighten the significance of MANET in the smart healthcare system. The COVID-19 pandemic outbreak demanded the reshaping of the healthcare systems to combat the pandemic and similar cataclysms. Existing healthcare systems are proved inefficient in dealing with pandemic situations, because they are not fully automated and also vulnerable to various security attacks. Therefore, it is vital to empower the healthcare sectors by integrating ubiquitous networks and other emerging technologies. In this paper, we proposed a MANET-based secure healthcare system to exchange medical data among portable nodes. Ensuring secure communication in the MANET-based healthcare system is one of the challenging issues. Healthcare system demands the sharing of confidential medical data among mobile nodes. So it is essential to provide secure information exchange in healthcare system by using strong cryptographic schemes. In this paper, we proposed a hybrid cryptographic algorithm for secure medical information exchange among mobile healthcare nodes. The proposed cryptographic scheme uses logistic map for key generation. Logistic map exhibits high security with less computational power. Our simulation results show that the proposed hybrid cryptographic scheme exhibits better security against various attacks in MANET-based healthcare systems.

The detection of long-distance pavement elevation undulation is the main data basis for pavement slope detection and flatness detection, and is also the data source for 3D modeling and quality evaluation of pavement surfaces. The traditional detection method is to use a level and manual coordination to measure; however, the detection accuracy is low and the detection speed is slow. In this paper, the high-speed non-contact vehicle-mounted road undulationelevation detection method is adopted, combined with the advantages of each sensor measurement; three methods are proposed to detect the road undulation elevation: rotary encoders, accelerometers, attitude sensor data fusion detection; GPS RTK detection; and Kalman filtering detection. Through modeling and experimental comparison, Kalman filter detection is not disturbed by the environment, and the detection accuracy is higher than the current international standard.
