Abstract:A Kronig-Penney model with a constant electric field is used to examine the transmission properties of electrons in one-dimensional disordered systems. Disorder is introduced into the system by assuming that the strengths of the 8-function potential are random variables uniformly distributed. In particular the cases where the strength varies from 0 to W (barriers) and from -W to 0 (wells) are considered. Extensive results are presented and compared to other theories.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
