Localization Properties of 1D Disordered Systems in the Presence of An Electric Field

Abstract: A Kronig-Penney model with a constant electric field is used to examine the transmission properties of electrons in one-dimensional disordered systems. Disorder is introduced into the system by assuming that the strengths of the 8-function potential are random variables uniformly distributed. In particular the cases where the strength varies from 0 to W (barriers) and from -W to 0 (wells) are considered. Extensive results are presented and compared to other theories.
