Long Noncoding RNA LOC100129973 Suppresses Apoptosis by Targeting miR-4707-5p and miR-4767 in Vascular Endothelial Cells

Abstract: Accumulating evidence has demonstrated that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are key regulators of multiple biological processes by altering gene expression at various levels. Apoptosis in vascular endothelial cells (VECs) is closely linked to numerous cardiovascular diseases, such as arteriosclerosis, thrombus formation and plaque erosion. However, studies on lncRNAs in the cardiovascular system are just beginning. And thus far, no anti-apoptosis lncRNAs have been identified in VECs. Here, we focused on the ant… Show more

“…Expression of the miR‐744‐5p was detected in human lip tissues and expressed in the maxillary, mandibular, and frontal nasal palate during mouse craniofacial development based on the FaceBase database. The involvement of miR‐744‐5p in wet age‐related macular degeneration has been previously reported (Lu et al, ), and our study provided the first evidence of its association with the risk of NSCL/P.…”

“…LncRNAs can act as endogenous miRNA sponges, thereby affecting the expression of these miRNAs (Cesana et al, ; Chen, Liang, Zhang, & Zen, ; Lu, Huang, Su, Zhao, & Miao, ). Here, miR‐744‐5p was identified to interact with the C allele of rs2262251 in lncRNA RP11‐462G12.2 in an allele‐specific manner.…”

“…lncRNAs, defined as transcripts of greater than 200 nucleotides without protein‐coding function, have generated considerable interest in the past decade . Large numbers of lncRNAs have been identified, and they are implicated in human diseases by regulating oxidative stress, inflammation, apoptosis, cell growth and viability . However, the expression profile and biological function of lncRNAs in BPD are currently unknown.…”

“…Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are non-protein-coding transcripts longer than 200 nucleotides [6] that were previously considered “transcription noise”, but studies have increasingly demonstrated that lncRNA transcripts are widely involved in almost every aspect of cellular biological functions, such as cell proliferation [7, 8], differentiation [9, 10], metabolism [11], and apoptosis [12]. Accumulating evidence suggests that the aberrant expression of lncRNAs plays an important role in the regulation of pancreatic β-cell function.…”
