Purpose To evaluate the color stability of CAD/CAM complete denture resins. Materials and Methods A total of 176 resin specimens were manufactured from conventional heat‐polymerizing (pink: CONHCP: n = 16; tooth‐shade: CONHCT: n = 16), CAD/CAM subtractively manufactured (pink: WIMP: n = 16, AVMP: n = 16, MEMP: n = 16, POMP: n = 16; tooth‐shade: AVMT: n = 16, MEMT: n = 16, POMT: n = 16), and additively manufactured (pink: NDRPP: n = 16; tooth‐shade: NDRPT: n = 16) denture resins; four different aging processes (thermal cycling, distilled water, red‐wine, and coffee) were used. A spectrophotometer evaluated the color change (ΔE) using two modes of measurements (specular component included (ΔESCI) and specular component excluded (ΔESCE)) recorded at baseline (T0) and at day#30 (T30). ANOVA and post hoc tests were used for statistical analysis (alpha = 0.05). Results Additively manufactured resins (NDRPP and NDRPT) demonstrated significant ΔE in comparison to the other groups in all aging media (p < 0.001). WIMP demonstrated higher ΔESCI in comparison to the other subtractively manufactured groups in distilled water (p < 0.001). In red‐wine, AVMT revealed significantly more ΔESCE than POMT (p = 0.039). In coffee, the ΔESCE was higher for CONHCT than MEMT (p = 0.026) and POMT (p = 0.011). Similarly, in coffee the ΔESCE for AVMT was higher than POMT (p = 0.030). Conclusion Additively manufactured denture resins demonstrated the maximum color change compared to conventional heat‐polymerized and CAD/CAM subtractively manufactured denture resins. Furthermore, CAD/CAM subtractively manufactured denture resins were not inferior to conventional resins in terms of color stability.

ResumoIntrodução: O manchamento dos dentes artificiais pode estar relacionado à abrasão da resina acrílica provocada pela escovação, resultando na maior deposição de corantes provenientes de bebidas, e consequentemente maior prejuízo estético. Objetivo: O objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar métodos de remoção de manchas extrínsecas por meio de analise com espectofotômetro. Material e método: Dentes artificiais foram divididos em 12 grupos (n=10), de acordo com o tipo de tratamento (repolimento -Re ou imersão em perborato de sódio, Corega Tabs -Sp), tipo de solução de manchamento, café (Cf) ou Coca-Cola  (Cc) ou água (W) e com/sem escovação (B). Os métodos de remoção de manchas propostos (Re e Sp) foram realizados de acordo com protocolos pré-estabelecidos. Os espécimes Sp foram submetidos a 7 ciclos de imersão (5 minutos cada). O repolimento foi realizado com pastas de pedra pomes e branco de espanha, utilizando escovas de cerdas macias e rodas de feltro. As leituras de estabilidade de cor (ΔE) foram realizadas por meio de um espectrofotômetro: T0 (baseline), T1 (após escovação/imersão em bebidas), e T2 (após Re ou Sp). Resultado: Alterações de cor entre T1 e T2 (teste T pareado; α=0,05) foram observadas para o grupo CfSp (p=.032); e para os grupos BWRe (p=.000), BCfRe (p=.049) e CcRe (p=.042). Os dentes artificiais submetidos à escovação mostraram maior alteração de cor (ANOVA 2 fatores; p<0,001). Conclusão: Conclui-se que a imersão em perborato de sódio (Corega Tabs) pode ser utilizada para remoção de manchas de café e o repolimento para remoção de manchas de Coca-Cola  . Ainda, a escovação produziu as maiores alterações de cor nos dentes artificiais, independentemente da solução de imersão.Descritores: Dente artificial; prótese total; escovação; estabilidade de cor. Objective: The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate methods for removal of stains from acrylic denture teeth using spectrophotometric analysis. Obiective. Scopul acestui studiu a fost verificarea respectării curburii variaţiei cromatice a dinţilor naturali din zona frontală maxilară de către garniturile de dinţi artificiali, precum şi identificarea garniturilor care se apropie cel mai mult de această variaţie. Materiale şi metodă. Un examinator fără deficit de percepţie vizuală şi cu experienţă în utilizarea spectrofotometrelor de uz introral a studiat din punct de vedere cromatic 8 garnituri de dinţi destinate înlocuirii grupului frontal maxilar. (13-23) Patru dintre acestea sunt garnituri de dinţi confecţionaţi din acrilat: Star Lux (Ruthinium Grup, Italia), Vita MTF (Vita, North America), Spofadent Plus (SpofaDent s.a, Cehia) şi Acry Rock (Ruthinium Grup, Italia), 2 garnituri sunt confecţionate din răşină compozită: Ivoclar Ivostar (Ivoclar Vivadent, Lichtenstein) şi Pigeon Summit (Pigeon Dental, China) şi 2 garnituri de dinţi ceramici: Vita Lumin Vacuum (Vita Zahnfabrik,Germania) şi Enta Ceram (Enta B.V., Olanda). Pentru fiecare dinte din fiecare garnitură s-au efectuat câte 5 măsurători cu aparatul Vita Easy Shade (Vita Zahnfabrik, Germania) şi s-au înregistrat valorile CIE L*a*b*. Rezultatele au fost comparate cu valorile medii obţinute la măsurarea dinţilor naturali. Pentru a calcula variaţia cromatică între diverse elemente de interes în acest studiu, s-a folosit formula consacrată pentru diferenţa relativă de culoare:. (1) Pentru fiecare garnitură de dinţi s-a observat variaţia culorii între fiecare doi dinţi vecini şi s-a raportat la variaţia culorii dintre perechea echivalentă de dinţi naturali. Diferenţa medie dintre natural şi artificial s-a raportat la valoarea ADA considerată ca limita perceptibilităţii cromatice a ochiului uman (2 unităţi). Rezultate. S-a observat că anumite garnituri de dinţi, pentru anumite grupe de dinţi adiacenţi, au un comportament cromatic comparabil cu cel al dinţilor naturali în limitele perceptibilităţii vizuale, în timp ce altele nu. În cazul perechii 13/12, variaţia este imperceptibilă numai în 4 cazuri (Spofadent Plus, Star Lux, Vita Lumin Vacuum şi Ivoclar Ivostar), în cazul perechii 12/11 acest lucru se întâmplă în 5 cazuri (Star Lux, Spofadent Plus, Vita MTF, Pigeon Summit şi Vita Lumin Vacuum), pentru perechea 11/21 s-au obţinut 5 cazuri (Vita Lumin Vacuum, Acry Rock, Ivoclar Ivostar, Star Lux, Spofadent Plus), în cazul perechii 21/22 am găsit 5 cazuri (Spofadent Plus, Ivoclar Ivostar, Vita MTF, Acry Rock, Star Lux) şi niciun caz pentru perechea 22/23. În limitele acestui studiu am putut afirma că utilizarea garniturii Spofadent Plus duce la obţinerea unor rezultate cromatice cu o variaţie cât mai apropiată de estetica dinţilor naturali. Concluzii. Deşi sunt codificate cromatic la fel, garniturile de dinţi artificiali prezintă culori diferite, în funcţie de producător, indiferent de materialul din care sunt confecţionate.
