Long-Term Ecological Environment Change Monitoring in Scale of City Along China-Europe Railway Express With a Remote Sensing-Based Ecological Index (Rsei): A Case Study in Warsaw, Poland

Abstract: Abstract. The China-Europe Railway Express (CER-Express) has developed rapidly since its opening, but little attention has been paid to the long-term ecological environment changes along its route, especially in scale of city. This paper studies the long-term changes of cities along the route before and after the opening of CER-Express. Based on the Google Earth Engine platform, we apply the RSEI model for the cities along the route before and after the opening of the CER-Express from 2010 to 2020. Taking Wars… Show more

“…Xue (Xue, 2023) used the Zhangjiakou section of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway as a typical case, establishing an index system for ecological environment quality, landscape pattern, and carbon storage, evaluating the ecological impact of the railway corridor, and analyzing the ecological costs and benefits of the railway corridor from an economic perspective. Yang (Yang, 2023), based on the RSEI model, took the city of Poland along the route of the China-Europe freight train as an example, analyzing the spatiotemporal changes in the ecological environment at the urban scale before, during, and after the operation of the China-Europe freight train. Focusing on the Xinjiang section of the Lan-Xin Railway Project, this research aims to fill this gap.…”

“…So, the areas along the cross-border transportation route have become typical areas for a complete cross-border HLS [20]. However, the construction of transportation routes, rapid economic expansion, and frequent migration of people damage the ecological environment profoundly [21,22], and the vulnerability of the HLS to cross-border regions is becoming increasingly acute [23]. It is quite urgent to carry out scientific prevention of ecological risks and propose countermeasures to ensure sustainable ecological and economic development in cross-border regions.…”
