“…The majority of subjects of both groups were able to be discharged home (Table 2). Our results are in agreement with those of a single-hospital, retrospective study, 38 which followed 590 cardiac surgery subjects for at least 1 y after discharge. At hospital discharge, 84.4% of subjects went home, 3.7% to rehabilitation program, 7.5% to skilled nursing facilities, and 4.4% to a longterm acute care facility.…”

“…In our cohort, discharge to home from index hospitalization was 73% (27% to other facility) and readmission within 30 days of procedure for any cause was 18.9%. Our group has previously published data demonstrating a higher rate of survival of patients discharged to home as compared to another health care facility after cardiac surgery . Although our study does not look at outcomes by where the patients are discharged, and there are no data on discharge location and TAVR outcomes, one could extrapolate from the above data that discharge to home in these patients is better than discharge to a facility other than home.…”

“…Importantly, the majority of patients were discharged to home. Our group has previously reported a higher rate of survival of patients discharged to home as compared with discharge to another healthcare facility after cardiac surgery [22]. The high rate of discharge to home after TAVR demonstrates the ability of carefully selected nonagenarians to recover from TAVR procedures.…”
