Long-term Follow-up of Intravesical Onabotulinum Toxin-A Injections in Male Patients with Idiopathic Overactive Bladder: Comparing Surgery-naïve Patients and Patients After Prostate Surgery

Abstract: Background: Evidence regarding long-term results in male idiopathic overactive bladder (iOAB) patients is limited and rarely focuses on the effects of prior prostatic surgery. Objective: This study aims to identify the long-term treatment persistency and occurrence of adverse events of intravesical onabotulinum toxin-A (BoNT-A) injections in male iOAB patients after prostatic surgery (ie, transurethral resection of the prostate [TURP] or radical prostatectomy [RP]) compared with surgery-naïve patients. Design,… Show more

“…The PRISMA flow diagram of the literature search and selection is shown in Figure 1. After screening of 75 abstracts, 12 studies were included in the qualitative synthesis: 2 randomized clinical trials (RCTs, Level 2, 14,15 1 secondary analysis of an RCT (Level 3), 16 and 9 case series (Level 4) 17–25 . As two reports 21,26 were available for one trial, our systematic review considered the later report, 21 which provided more detailed information.…”
