“…It has been demonstrated that the mean time for complete epithelialization of the entire neovaginal cavity is about 13 days, ranging from 10 to 14 days. Histologically, the neovaginal mucosal lining that the grafted buccal mucosa has created is a non-keratinized squamous stratified epithelium, similar to that of normal vaginal mucosa, and is capable of secretory function (Li et al, 2014;Reed et al, 2015). Overall, this SRS accompaniment is a feasible and safe technique that has shown promising results in terms of sexual function, attributed to the lubricating secretory mucus produced, and excellent cosmetic results, especially because externally visible scars on a donor site are precluded.…”
