Longitudinal Data Analysis of Stevia Rebaudiana Evapotranspiration According to Water Levels

Abstract: The purpose of this work was to evaluate the accumulated evapotranspiration of stevia, planted in 40 pots, over a period of 27 days according to four irrigation levels through a nonlinear mixed eects model and, with this model, to verify if we can maximize the stevia's evapotranspiration with a lower than usual water level. When the humidity of the substrate reached 50% of its maximum capacity retention, we added water to raise the humidity according to the four treatments: W1 = 62:5%; W2 = 75:0%; W3 = 87:5%; … Show more

“…ϕ 1 is the inferior horizontal asymptote which gives the accumulated ET value when t !À∞. Biologically, this parameter does not have a consistent interpretation, but it is important in the fitting because it ensures the accumulated ET,in times close to zero, to be very small [2,3]. ϕ 2 is the superior horizontal asymptote and gives the accumulated ET value when t !…”

“…It is known that the production variables present a positive correlation with the amount of total evapotranspired water throughout the plants' life cycle. That is, the larger the total evapotranspiration water, the higher the values of the production variables [2,3]. Hence, the inflection point can indicate the proximity of the harvest day.…”

“…With these models, it is possible to fit the water consumption rates by the annual plants, which increases in the beginning of the cycle and decreases from the adult stage. In the same way that the plant grows over time (Erickson, ), the accumulated water consumption values should behave exponentially in the initial growth periods and tend to be asymptotically peaked (Pereira, Pereira, Bertonha, & Previdelli, ).…”
