Low-Cost, Extensible and Open Source Home Automation Framework

Abstract

A framework for home IoT development and automation is proposed, and the details of a low cost demonstration system synthesised using this approach are recounted. Details are given on the roles of each component and the functionality achieved by the system-control of central heating, temperature monitoring and finger print based access control. The performance of the system and its data acquisition abilities are reflected upon to suggest future development work.
