“…3a ). The ultimate strength in bending of this material is 100 -120 MPa, the dielectric constant in the frequency range up to 10 6 Hz is 8.2, the tangent of the dielectric loss angle is 1´10 -3 -2´10 -3 [9]. With this in mind, a composition was studied in the CaO-B 2 O 3 -SiO 2 system relating to the eutectic point of 977°C.…”

“…Nevertheless, the manufacture of most of the glass materials is usually a complex process including high-temperature melting and cooling. At present, the multi-oxide systems, such as the eutectic systems CaO-B 2 O 3 -SiO 2 , CaO-B 2 O 3 -Al 2 O 3 , ZnO-SrO-B 2 O 3 and BaO-ZnO-SiO 2 -B 2 O 3 [4,5], can be developed to fabricate the ceramics with low sintering temperature. The eutectic compositions with melting temperature below 1000 o C can supply sufficient amounts of liquid phase to achieve the densification sintering of the low-temperature sintering ceramics.…”

“…Accordingly, barium borate can also be used to fabricate LTCC composite ceramics as a LTCC matrix [6,7], since the appropriate BaO-B 2 O 3 compositions have the potential to transform into a glassy form at a relative low sintering temperature (800-900 • C) [8,9]. Especially in order to achieve a densification sintering, the introduction of the ␣-alumina ceramic particles to the barium borate glassy matrix can offer more possibilities to set a proper sintering behavior and maximize mechanical strength [10][11][12][13][14]. With this understanding, the composite matrix (BBA) of the barium borate glassy matrix and the ␣-alumina ceramic particles can be well combined with other functional ceramic particles and consequently achieve tailored physical properties and dense microstructure.…”
