Low-mass dielectron production in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV and feasibility of a QGP-temperature measurement

Abstract: The main focus of research in the field of high-energy heavy-ion physics is the study of the quark-gluon plasma (QGP). Topic of the present work is the measurement of electron-positron pairs (dielectrons), which grant direct access to some of the key properties of this state of matter, since after their formation they leave the hot and dense medium without significant interaction.
