“…The validity of this statement is supported both through the proper transmission characteristics of the wafer-fused LW-VCSEL itself and by simulation and experimental results of a number of basic microwave photonics devices presented here: an optoelectronic microwaveband oscillator, two versions of optoelectronic microwave-band frequency converters. Besides the above-described applications, some other examples of important microwave photonic devices based on LW-VCSELs have been published, for example in heterogeneous silicon photonic integrated circuits [10], coherent transmission module of the PON's upstream channel [50], and optical frequency comb generators [51].
