“…There are reports in the literature of high‐temperature deposition processes producing rutile TiO 2 films instead of anatase on SnO 2 substrates, although the growth of rutile TiO 2 nanorods/nanowires or branched nanocrystals on SnO 2 is more common. Given that rutile TiO 2 was found in some studies to epitaxially grow on rutile SnO 2 with the substrate [100] aligned with the film [100], the rutile TiO 2 lattice parameter a = 4.594 Å is close enough to the rutile SnO 2 lattice parameter a = 4.737 Å for epitaxial growth without too much lattice strain.
