“…Along the line AX+M, bulk powders of cubic PbS and orthorhombic SnS can be transformed with Ni at elevated temperatures ( T >400 °C, path 1) in pure solid‐state reactions into trigonal‐layered shandite‐type Ni 3 Pb 2 S 2 and isotypic Ni 3 Sn 2 S 2 . This path is also used under mild conditions ( T =166–197 °C) from SnS and PbS nanoparticles in a reductive solution of Ni 2+ . A diffusion‐driven mechanism was proven for the formation of the ternaries, whereas core‐shell particles Ni@SnS are formed by a more rapid reduction.…”

“…Their formation and binary side products depend on kinetics and equilibriums of dissolution and redox reactions. A diffusion‐driven transformation was concluded similar to the conversion of PbS to Ni 3 Pb 2 S 2 . In both cases, binary chalcogenide precursors AX are converted to perovskite‐related M 3 A 2 X 2 =M 1.5 AX compounds by adding the transition‐metal Ni.…”

“…Reduced nickel diffusion into the Bi 2 S 3 crystal structure was initially considered as a driving force of the reaction . The same reaction mechanism was proposed for Ni 3 Pb 2 S 2 , too . Later investigations of the reaction mechanism proved its complexity: it was assumed that formation of NiBi and Bi intermediates plays an important role in the reaction pathway., , The two-step morphological templating was proposed for the synthesis of Ni 3 Bi 2 S 2 starting from bismuth; however, the retention of the starting material size and shape was observed only in the case when the morphology of the precursor was spherical.…”

“…By varying reaction parameters, the formation of core-shell particles, Sn 2 Ni 3 S 2 ,N i 3 S 2 ,a nd Ni 1.523 Sn can be controlled from am odified polyol synthesis for isotypic Pb 2 Ni 3 S 2 . [24] This study serves as ap rototype for the formation of similaro rc ompletely new phases by carefully adjusting the general method. [26] which are apparent in the phase diagram.…”
