LSMO Nanoparticles Coated by Hyaluronic Acid for Magnetic Hyperthermia

Abstract: Magnetic hyperthermia with the treating temperature range of 41–46 °C is an alternative therapy for cancer treatment. In this article, lanthanum strontium manganates (La1−xSrxMnO3, 0.25 ≤ × ≤ 0.35) magnetic nanoparticles coated by hyaluronic acid (HA) which possesses the ability of targeting tumor cells were prepared by a simple hydrothermal method combined with a high-energy ball milling technique. The crystal structure, morphology, magnetic properties of the HA-coated magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs), and their… Show more

“…Also, according to the reported results by Hadimani et al [ 23 ], the accurate measurement of the Curie temperature with the line projection method under a 1 Tesla magnetic field is difficult, and by drawing a tangent line in the curve, the Curie temperature is obtained higher than the real value. Since, in the present study, the used magnetic field was 1000 Oe, a diagram of magnetization changes with temperature change (dM/dT) was drawn and T C was considered at the point where the dM/dT become zero to eliminate the effect of the applied magnetic field intensity [ 25 , 26 ] ( Figure 4 ).…”

“…applicable for magnetic hyperthermia treatment. Yuanwei Chen et al (2016) [33], synthesized and characterized nano-particle composite of lanthanum, strontium manganates. The Tc values of the particles were ranging from 43.9°C-49.2°C.…”

“…Specific loss power (SLP) is directly proportional to SAR values, which means that the amount of heat produced is directly proportional of the amount of magnetic radiation absorbed by the particles with respect to its mass. Whereas ESAR values are more specific to the type of coil diameter, current applied and the magnetic field strength used [33].…”

“…HA-coated lanthanum strontium manganates (LSMO) have been studied with regards to their morphology, magnetic properties, and heating efficacy under AMF with different concentrations of each element. The HA-coated La 0.7 Sr 0.3 MnO 3 MNPs exhibited a heating temperature of 45.7 °C and a magnetic particle size of approximately 100 nm, indicating that they are suitable MNPs for mild hyperthermia [86].…”
