Abstract:Forsstroemia producta (Hornsch.) Paris (Neckeraceae)–a widely distributed, pleurocarpous moss is documented for the first time in Indian bryoflora. The present report is based on a collection made from Cedrus Trew and Quercus L. dominated forests at Lohaghat and Mukteshwar in the Kumaun region of Western Himalayas, India. To support the new distributional record, a taxonomic description of the epiphytic moss, Forsstroemia Lindb. (F. producta), a member of the section Microforsstroemia Nog. is provided here.
