The Role of PPARδ Agosnist GW501516 in Rats with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus

Abstract: Background: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a disorder of glucose metabolism that occurs or is found for the first time during pregnancy. GDM is very harmful and urgently needs drug treatment to improve pregnancy outcome. PPARδ is involved in a variety of biological processes related to glycolipid metabolism in the body, suggesting that it may be closely related to insulin resistance and impaired glucose tolerance. The role of PPARδ agonist GW501516 in gestational diabetes has not been studied. Methods:… Show more

“…Furthermore, the number of arterial plaques, intima thickness, macrophage activation and α-SMA expression in DM-AS rats were increased compared with those in the control rats, indicating the successful establishment of the DM-AS model. It was found that the normal blood glucose level of rats is ~4 mmol/l (27), similar to the results observed in the present study .…”

“…PPARs (PPARα, PPARβ/δ and PPARγ) promote lipolysis, enhance insulin sensitivity and reduce blood lipid levels, and has the properties of cardiovascular protection [81][82][83]. Generally, PPARs are low-expressed in patients with obesity and T2DM [84,85]. PPARγ agonists, thiazolidinediones, are widely used in clinics as insulin sensitizers.…”

“…Angiopoietin-like protein 8 (Angptl 8) is a newly identified protein factor whose secretion is closely related to lipid metabolism, insulin sensitivity, and glucose metabolism ( 90 ). Angptl8 can influence plasma lipoprotein levels by regulating IR and glucose homeostasis ( 98 ). JNK signaling pathway inhibition by ANGPTL8 knockdown can enhance insulin sensitivity in trophoblast cells.…”
