Abstract:Optical fibre-based extrinsic Fabry-Perot interferometric (EFPI) sensors have been extensively deployed for sensing a number of measurands including temperature, strain, vibration and pressure. Their circular cross-section has made it relatively simple and attractive to embed them in advanced fibre reinforced composites (AFRCs) such as glass and carbon fibres. However, a typical construction of an EFPI consists of two optical fibres that are positioned and secured within a precision bore capillary. The relativ… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
