Abstract:A simple technique to form glass microresonators is proposed and used to make microresonators of samariumdoped phosphate glass. Measured in the vicinity of 4G512-6H712 transition of Sm3+ ion photoluminescence spectra of the microresonators gave the value of Q-factor '-6000. This exceeds the Q-factor of glass microspeherts made with conventional flyway technique.
