Luminescent thermometer based on Eu3+/Tb3+‐organic‐functionalized mesoporous silica

Abstract: In this work we investigate a mesoporous silica (MS) decorated with dipyridyl-pyridazine (dppz) ligands and further grafted with a mixture of Eu /Tb ions (28.45%:71.55%), which was investigated as a potential thermometer in the 10-360 K temperature range. The MS material was prepared employing a hetero Diels-Alder reaction: 3,6-di(2-pyridyl)-1,2,4,5-tetrazine was reacted with the double bonds of vinyl-silica (vSilica) followed by an oxidation procedure. We explore using the dppz-vSilica material to obtain visi… Show more

“…Following this approach, we have recently investigated the synthesis of mesoporous silica materials decorated with dipyridyl-pyridazine (dppz) ligands, which were further attached to lanthanide (Ln 3+ ) complexes (Ln 3+ = Er 3+ , Yb 3+ , Nd 3+ or Eu 3+ /Tb 3+ mixture) and used as potential ratiometric thermometer materials. 40,41…”

“…In particular,t hese surface adducts were proven to be suitable sensitizing ligands for europium ions, [6] provided hybridn ear-infrared (NIR) emitting materials upon complexation with NIR emitting lanthanide ions (Nd 3 + ,E r 3 + ,Y b 3 + ) [7] and al uminescento pticalt hermometer when grafted with Eu 3 + / Tb 3 + ions. [8] Nitrogen-doped graphenes can be obtainedb yt wo general strategies, that is, direct synthesis and posttreatment.R egardless of the doping procedure, different nitrogen types at different locationsa re generated and so specific sites for metal coordination are ill-defined. “…These surface adducts were generated by Diels–Alder reaction between C=C double bonds in the organosilica (dienophile) and 3,6‐di(2‐pyridyl)‐1,2,4,5‐tetrazine (diene). In particular, these surface adducts were proven to be suitable sensitizing ligands for europium ions, provided hybrid near‐infrared (NIR) emitting materials upon complexation with NIR emitting lanthanide ions (Nd 3+ , Er 3+ , Yb 3+ ) and a luminescent optical thermometer when grafted with Eu 3+ /Tb 3+ ions …”

“…Furthermore, am esoporous silica (this material is not aP MO since its synthesis is conducted in the presence of as ilica source( TEOS)) decorated with dipyridyl-pyridazine(dppz) 39 ligands andg rafted with 28 %E u 3 + and 72 %T b 3 + ions was investigated by Kaczmarek and co-workers as at emperature sensor. The N-rich ligand dppz could also be used to preparet hermometers with NIR emitting lanthanides (Nd, Yb, Er). [95]…”
